Growing

Seeds

It is practically impossible to grow the Pubaliks hoy in apartment conditions; a flower, in most cases, does not produce seed pods.

In greenhouses, the variety is grown by seed in this way.:

  1. The seeds are dried.
  2. Artificial fabrics, burlap are added to the substrate.
  3. Within a week, the seeds germinate.
  4. Gentle irrigation, soil fungicide treatment is required.
  5. Seedlings must be kept in a warm, well-lit place.
  6. In the planting containers, seedlings are kept for 2.5 - 3 months.
  7. When 3 to 4 leaves appear, young sprouts are transplanted into separate pots for growth.

Seed germination is great - up to 85%, subject to their viability - the seeds lose their quality within 1 year.

Leaf

Hoyu Publicalix is grown by leaf, but the probability of the desired result is small. The process is long, requiring the following conditions:

  1. It is advisable to use leaves of natural mother varieties for reproduction.
  2. Use additional chemical rooting agents.
  3. A leaf stalk needs to be preserved.
  4. Treated leaves are planted in a loose substrate at an angle of 45 °.
Important: the substrate should have a drainage layer for lightness and friability.

Cuttings

Hoya Publikaliks propagated mainly by cuttings - The easiest and most reliable way to grow in an apartment environment. The procedure is simple, time-consuming:

  1. Short cuts of 4–5 cm are cut, on which there are leaves and nodules.
  2. The pot is wrapped with foil or dense material - when germinating, there should be no light.
  3. Cuttings are treated with root growth hormone.
  4. Seedlings are vertically lowered, 1 leaf and nodules should be in the water.
  5. The pot is transferred to a warm place.
  6. Air and water temperature - 22 - 24 ° С.
  7. You can cover the seedlings with foil for a greenhouse effect.
  8. After 12 to 15 days, the cuttings will release the roots.

Do not overexpose cuttings in water. Long, overgrown roots take root worse in the soil and break when planted.

You can simply put the cuttings in a dark container, remove to heat, spray daily with plenty of water. The roots sprout pretty quickly.

Before planting, treat the pot with disinfectants or pour boiling water over it.

Substrate for planting Hoya Publikaliks:

  • Sod land - 2 hours
  • Peat - 4 hours
  • Sand - 1 hour
  • Drainage is a mixture of sand, expanded clay and crushed stone.

How to care?

  1. Temperature. The flower does not tolerate high air temperatures, above 23 - 25 ° C is not recommended, there is a risk of diseases and infections. For seed germination, the growth of cuttings seedlings, the air temperature should be at least 22 ° C.
  2. Watering. Watering is required regularly. In the summer, in extreme heat, it is imperative to spray the leaves, thus lowering the temperature and increasing air humidity. In winter and autumn, watered only after the soil dries.

Water for irrigation should be soft, settled for at least 2 to 3 days. To soften hard water, you need to put a little moss - sphagnum in it.

  3. Shine. Hoya Pubicalix loves bright but diffused light. It is best to place pots or flowerpots on the west or east side of the house. In summer, from direct sunlight, it is necessary to shade the flower with a light fabric curtain, pigment spots or burns may appear on the leaves. In winter, on the contrary, with a lack of light, the flower will begin to hurt.

It is better to keep it in a bright place or use additional lighting with special lamps, burns, pigment spots on the leaves may appear.

  4. Pruning. The variety tolerates pruning well at any time of the year if necessary - for cuttings or when the stems are too large, they can be shortened. Dry and damaged shoots and leaves are also removed.

Pruning is done with a sharp, sterile knife.

  5. Top dressing. Good growth requires fertilizing with mineral fertilizers. If the leaves turn yellow and the flower grows slowly, the soil requires nitrogen fertilizers. From the beginning of spring to the very end of summer, top dressing is applied regularly - every 14 to 16 days.

Observe the dosage, the flower may die from excessive fertilizers.

  6. Pot. Most often, medium-sized plastic pots up to 1 liter are used for planting. The root system develops moderately. Frequent pot changes are not required.

Make drainage holes for outflow of water.

Root system care

So that the roots do not break out from the weight of long stems, the flower should be placed and strengthened on supports. For the prevention of root diseases, the substrate is treated with fungicides, loosened, renewed.

Briefly about the diseases characteristic of this flower

The risk zone is autumn, when the temperature drops sharply, the light becomes insufficient, and air humidity rises.

You should not water the flower abundantly during this period, rot or mold may appear. Substrate renewal is required - the upper moldy layer is removed, the pot is treated with a solution of vinegar. If the lesions are severe, a transplant is required. It is required to reduce watering, add lighting with special lamps, treat the substrate and leaves with fungicides.

But placing flowers near batteries is also not recommended. From the drying of the air, the leaves begin to turn yellow. Affected leaves are pruned, and the flower itself is fertilized with potash mineral fertilizers. You can feed a simple potato broth.

The most common pest for the Publiciix hoya is scale insects. It is collected manually, the leaves are treated with a soap solution. Alcohol processing of leaves rescues from worms.

Hoyi Publikaliks - looks great in hanging planters and compositions with various supports. To flower quickly and well developed, bloomed, it requires a lot of effort and competent regular care.
